This Witch is just a small part of the ever growing Gothic monster family. Gothic character stories are normally found haunting a cemetery, or a spooky castle. This Goth Fairy Princess Child Costume is one to move on to when you’ve finished with all those pink and frills! You must still be good, well fairies are, but may be just  for the night you could be a bit wicked.  It’s a really super Halloween costume to wear and sure to be very much in demand this Halloween.

Vampires are said to drink blood, but you won’t have to go that far to look authentic. Just stick to candy corn and you won’t go wrong.

Why not try this delicious pumpkin soup recipe on Halloween.

Roasted Pumpkin Soup served with Melted Cheese (should feed about 6)

Ingredients

1.35 – 1.6 kg of pumpkin

1 tablespoon of groundnut oil

25 g butter

1 finely chopped onion

850 ml veg or chicken stock

425 ml whole milk

Nutmeg

Salt & pepper

To Serve:

110 g of Gruyere  cut into 5 mm dice

50 grams of Gruyere coarsely grated

2 tablespoons of crème fraiche

Croutons if required

Fresh parsley

Pre-heat the oven to gas mark 9 or 475 F (240 C).

To Make:

What could be better for Halloween?

Cut pumpkin in half and then cut each half into 4, dig out the seeds, coat each piece of the pumpkin with the oil and lay on a baking tray. Season with salt and pepper, then place on the top shelf of the oven for 25 – 30 mins or until softish.

Melt the butter over a high heat and add the onions and stir, after five minutes when the onions begin to color, turn down the heat. Cook gently without a lid, stirring occasionally for about 20 mins.

Remove the pumpkin from oven and cool. Add the stock and milk to the onion, let it slowly come up to simmering point. Scoop the flesh out of the pumpkin and add to the stock. Season with the salt, pepper and nutmeg. Simmer gently for about 15 – 20 mins.

Let the soup cool slightly, and then process to a puree until it’s smoothly blended.

Before serving, stir in the chopped cheese on a low heat, dish  into warm bowls, garnish each bowl with a teaspoon of crème fraiche and sprinkle with the grated cheese, a few croutons and a little parsley.

Don’t eat it too quickly! and don’t spill it down your costume, you might have to wear it again next year.

Wearing a black cloak and hood and always carrying a scythe he has been likened to an angel of death . Remember you’ll have to spend the evening bending over, as he is usually an old man! The Grim Reaper costume is always a popular one to wear.

Swamp Monsters are creatures who sometimes look a bit like a fish or piles of swamp weed. They may live underwater and only come up for air on 31st October! Shrek has made us all very interested in swamp monsters again. I think this is a very unusual costume to scare the family with. Hopefully he will be as friendly as Shrek himself.

Skeleton Bones costume, this would be easy to wear, and may be not quite as scary.

What can I tell you about the Werewolf? There are a couple of ways you can get to be a werewolf. One is to be bitten by one. But for that to happen you would have to actually know one!. The second, and perhaps even more less likely is you would have to have had a curse put on you. So think carefully, have you upset anybody recently who seems that they might have a bit of werewolf in them! The Werewolf was made popular again thanks to Buffy’s friend who occasionally grew hair on his face. The answer always has to be, the silver bullet, that will put a stop to them.
